My dad had a disease, it was ruining his life.

He said "Son, you're going to end up just like me."

The scary part was...

He was right.

// SHORT STORY THREAD//

[ Inspired by @AgileMinded ]
My dad had (has) diabetes.

He had a well paying job, there was a roof over my head, and he did so much for me to be thankful for.

But, this disease caused unspeakable distress for me as a kid.
And when he said I'd end up the same...

My reaction was instant anger.

I was pissed off.

Offended.

But this moment was the catalyst that changed my trajectory in life forever.
I started paying attention to my habits.

I was a "binger".

I ate when I was stressed, and "just 1 slice" was NEVER enough.

I was headed down the path of obesity, diabetes, and depression.
I could have ridden that wave.

But instead, I banked and U turn.

I decided to show my family we CAN take control of the so called "curse" that was wiping us out left and right.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I could've lied.

"It's ok, you'll never end up in a hospital bed."

But instead, I took control of my life, of my habits, of my health.
I refused to fit the mold.

I put in the work and built a version of myself that was healthier, stronger, and more confident than anyone would have expected.

And now it's my mission to help others do the same.
THIS is power.

You circumstances don't have to define you.

Instead, use you rock bottoms and the catalyst for change and BUILD the life you've always wanted.
