A reminder of why the vaccines are still GOOD NEWS and a light at the end of the tunnel - despite the scary stuff about variants:
Last week, I wrote in @leapsmag about my own experience with the 2nd shot of Pfizer vaccine. https://leapsmag.com/everyone-should-hear-my-covid-vaccine-experience/

My biggest takeways:
1) Thrilled to have some side effects, because it showed that my immune system was really working
2) I had my personal superhero cape, and couldn't wait for everyone else to get theirs

Yesterday, the brilliant @KatherineJWu published a piece in @TheAtlantic that I *wish* I'd written - with much more science about why these side effects aren't something to be scared of: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/02/second-vaccine-side-effects/617892/?fbclid=IwAR2T4KyJIc0OCgalV4Y7_YAQQPB540D5M3FlEV8NYXSRv93Z6T5UO-0x1VE
I mean, this description of our innate vs adaptive immune system may be some of the best science writing I've read in a while (THANK YOU @KatherineJWu !)
And today, we got another piece of great #vaccine news from Astra-Zeneca (hopeful it applies to other vaxxes too):
We don't just have OUR superhero cape after we get this shot, we are ALSO protecting others (thread to come!) https://www.wsj.com/articles/oxford-astrazeneca-vaccine-data-show-effectiveness-with-spread-out-doses-11612301541
