What’s going on?

PCC recently moved into the CD on the iconic corner of 23rd & Union. At the Fourth of Youlie Event last summer, community challenged PCC’s role in gentrifying the neighborhood.

As a first step toward addressing this harm, and in strong solidarity with @UFCW21, we’re calling on PCC to add *at least* two Black workers and one Black community member to its board of directors. /3 https://twitter.com/KCEquityNow/status/1350959423825588226?s=20
A few starting points:

-Are you expanding your board membership to include at least two Black workers and one rooted Black community member?

-Please provide a racial breakdown of all PCC employment by position. /5
-What is your plan to increase and support Black leadership at all levels of management
and staff?

-How can PCC partner with the community to turn the store into Black-owned co-op?

-Tapping in with local UFCW 21 members: is PCC reinstating hazard and/or quarantine pay? /6
2) Attend PCC's open community meeting in early February. Zoom details to follow.

We welcome everyone into this conversation to hold PCC accountable for its role in actively displacing & gentrifying the CD, Seattle’s historically Black neighborhood.

(3) Uplift and support Black Star Farmers (@blackstarfarmers) and the Ujamaa Food Circle.

Black Star Farmers is a Black and Indigenous led foundry for the radical reclamation of land and food for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).

The Ujamaa Food Circle uses "the collective economic principle, Ujamaa, to help BIPOC families achieve food sovereignty." W/ the help of Seattle BIPOC Organic, BSF will be purchasing dry goods, organic produce, & household supplies in bulk to redistribute to Seattle families. /9
