Arguably the gameplan that secure Porier's victory.
Outside Calf Kicks.
This area on the lower leg is super vulnerable.
And below, I will be explaining why, and how to avoid these kicks.
Adesanya does a great job of avoiding these strikes to the leg.

What does the outside CALF kick do?
This strike doesn't actually strike the calf, but instead the PERONEALS that run on the outside of the Fibular.
You have a very crucial nerve supple right at this area.

Continuously applying a direct blow to this area does 2 things.
1. Causes swelling / bleeding to the Peroneal muscles
2. Compresses the Nerve.
With more trauma, comes more swelling and more bleeding.
Kick by kick, Porier was causing more and more swelling in this area.

This compartment where this nerve passes through is SUPER SMALL.
Therefore, even slight swelling in the area will begin to COMPRESS the nerve.
Without this nerve supply, the foot becomes 'dead' and drops.

This prevents Mcgregor from being able to:
- Stay light on feet
- Change angles on front foot
- Push off front foot to check kick.
These kicks are typically checked by lifting leg up and rotating out, so that the foot strikes the blade of your shin.

McGregor has been much more flat footed when striking as of late, and was his demise against Porier.
Contrast this to Adesanya, who avoid checking kicks if possible, and evades entirely.
For in/out fighters who stay light on their feet, leg kicks slow this down.
