Fear Can Often Times Take Over Our Minds

6 Steps Towards Overcoming It

//Thread
1. Understand Fear And Embrace It

Fear exists to keep us safe.

It is not necessarily good or bad.

Simply guides our ability to make the right decision.

Fear becomes a problem when it begins to change our lifestyle in result of it.
2. Use Your Imagination

Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a situation that usually causes fear.

Begin to imagine yourself handling the situation peacefully.

Peace experienced in our imagination can help us get through the actual situation.
3. Use Your Brain Differently

Fear and anxiety arise out of a certain part of our brains causing emotions to override rational thought.

When feeling fear symptoms arise, think in terms of numbers. (1-10)

Scale anxiety levels during these times.

Analyze how you feel.
4. Focus On Controlling Breathing

Breathing is more important than you may think.

Once you notice you have become fearful, stop and focus on your breathing.

Breathe in and slowly out.

Exhale should be longer than inhale.

Deep breathing forces your body to calm.
5. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps us become better aware of our fears.

As fear occurs, sit down and think about what is happening to you.

Similar to making a mental journal entry.

Remain passive.

Raise self-awareness, not allowing fearful experiences to occur.
6. Make Nature Your Therapist

Try going on walks more regularly.

Natural beauty or wherever something green is growing reduces symptoms of fear.

Nature calms people.

Physical activity requires our brain to be used different.

Switching from irrational to clear thoughts.
