Are your habits falling apart during stressful times?

You want to keep things together, but the stress finds its way.

I've been working with a client on this,

And how you can learn from what I've been helping him with.

Backstory:

My client was given a HUGE promotion at work due to an M&A without a pay raise yet.

They've adjusted his workload according to the pay raise, but still no sign of a raise.

He went from managing 1 office to 4-5.
Prior to the promotion, we were already working on building solid habits.

The change we started off with was 10-minute walks every day.

In the past month, he's complied with it for over 85% of the month and it's kept him on track.
However with the stress of the new promotion, things kind of fell apart.

We were in the middle of adding a new habit, but I knew it was time to back off on it.

I keep a log of how often he complies with the habit changes, so I can see his progress.
With habits that you built, what you don't realize is that they actually keep you FROM feeling stressed.

When times get more difficult, you tend to give up your habits when that's what keeps you stable.

When I saw him stressing, I told him to keep up with the habits he built.
He comes back to our group chat and mentions,

"Never would have thought of a walk as stress relief before, but it works."

When you build habits, stick with them.

You never know the benefits until you go through rough patches.
