At age 12 my parents told me I'd end up fat, diabetic, and depressed.

My entire life I:

- Hated what I saw in the mirror
- Had low energy
- Thought I could never be the man I wanted to be

Here was my mistake (DO NOT DO THIS)

I crash dieted.

I was down 20 lbs in 2 weeks and didn't look any better.

I was pissed off at myself.

So afraid of diabetes that I fell victim to an unsustainable fad diet.

I hated my food, felt like shit, and I knew I couldn't keep it up much longer.

All of it led up to this one moment.

The next day I go to school and my buddy laughs "Gabe, you don't even look like you work out."

I go to the bathroom mirror and look at myself right in the eyes.

Empty shirt sleeves. No definition in my muscles.

I went from afraid of getting diabetes to so skinny I look sick.

That's when I put my foot down.

I committed to taking back control of my mentality, my habits, and my life, so I could become the man I always wanted to be.

I had to fight.

It was about time I started working on becoming the man I was always supposed to be.

I could either end up dead from diabetes like the rest of my family or do whatever it takes to win.

And I chose the latter...
