Blowing things out of proportion can really mess with our mental health and cause a lot of the following

> Depression
It can also mess with relationships or your job
Basically you're reacting based on an assumption

Vagueness
When you don't have all the facts, your mind fills in the blank
Example: your boss wants to see you. Are you being fired?
Too much pressure on yourself

Everything needs to be perfect or you're a failure

The fear of failing magnifies that fear which influences your emotions
Making you think the threat is more dangerous than it really is

What can you do to stop catastrophic thinking?
Keep track of what triggers these types of thoughts
Start to understand why they happen, and
Learn how to get into the habit of challenging them

Realize it’s a worst-case scenario

Write in your journal about what the best case scenario can be
Focus your attention towards that one instead
