--Energy management--

The superior version of time management.

What is it and how do you implement it?

// A thread //
WHAT?

- Manage time based on energy levels.
- Use this energy to get into a flow state.
- Use this energy to work through deadlines.

So basically:

- Direct most of your energy to what needs most of your focus.
HOW?

THREE STEPS:

1. Sort.
2. Divide.
3. Conquer.

Let's start with SORT
One: SORT

Every task needs attention and thereby energy.

Which tasks offer more Return On Energy?

These tasks deserve high priority.

Make this high priority items visible in your to-do list.
Examples of low priority versus high priority:

LOW:
- Daily clothing choice
- Grocery shopping
- Certain phone calls or e-mails

HIGH:
- Cooking
- Deadlines
- Study sessions

Remember this list is personal!
Two: DIVIDE

Look at your current energy states and ask yourself:

When do I have the most energy?

These moments you work on HIGH energy demanding tasks.

Divide your time according to the energy demand of each task.
Example?

8 AM- 10 AM: Low energy task
10 AM - 12 PM: High energy task
12 PM - 2PM: Low energy task
2 PM-6 PM: High energy task

Remember this is personal as well! Follow your own rhythm.

First understand your own energy levels and then divide your time accordingly.
Three: Conquer

Make it happen and commit to your schedule.

AND finish tasks more efficiently.

When you have high energy, you will get into a flow state.

Hence the task will feel easier to complete.
Why?

- 2 hours of pure focus will outweigh 8 hours of distracted focus.
- Quicker completion of tasks = more iteration and more feedback.
- Make your own deadlines.
- Finish your most important tasks every single day. Have a win each day!
- Less passive procrastination.
