There are unfortunate precedents which precede him. Very little use blaming him alone. Not everyone had the clarity of शिवश्री-आरुमुख-नावलर् or his iron-like commitment to understand Xtianity for what it is & then go & surgically dismantle it. https://twitter.com/A_i_n_z/status/1342055738462457856
One tried to appropriate Xmas as day of Isha-kRSNa as it is sacred to both shiva & viSNu (fair enough) & that's what JC was actually named after. (Well, one may excuse this as a genuine if weak attempt at "swallowing up" pretamata into dharma.
Another, very famous & revered by many of us even outside Twitter, said that the true meaning of pitA-putra-pishAca of pretamata is Ishvara-guru-AtmA. No further comments except to state that this is most likely a case of an unintentional attempt at "digestion".
Another one seems to accept the Lost Jeebus theory on the basis of shady bhaviSyapurANa texts, for which recent provenance is the most apt explanation.
The problem with all these attempts at "digestion", whether intended or unintended, is that Xtians are not obliged to do anthing. They can remain intolerant as ever & we try to reconcile them with the dharma for 0 returns.
When this is the case, it is not possible to get too perturbed by JV's statement about interpreting Jeebus through yoga-darshana, etc.
We should simply note that otherwise great men had encouraged or continue to encourage such bad precedents & instead follow, in this case, the better footsteps of those like नावलर् .
If someone says a 100 things which are not expressly found in scriptures (& that will be the case frequently), of which 60 are in his core competency & the other 40 are outside it, a sane response will be to evaluate the latter carefully & take it with more than a pinch of salt.
Instead, people are interested in being fanboys & cultists & ascribing omniscience to Teachers; which results in memes like the above gaining currency; which are useless at best & harmful at worst.
