Abbott today received FDA EUA to use their true $5 paper-strip rapid antigen test AT-HOME!
This is a massive step forward to getting true rapid, accessible, frequent paper strip tests into the household!!
But.. still... there is a catch..

The test IS the type of rapid test I have been calling for.
BUT: requires a prescription - and instead of $5 it will cost an additional $25 for a digital MD service to have someone watch you use it
Example of taking a simple cheap test and making it difficult/inaccessible

So this is a tremendous step forward to at least show that these tests CAN be used safely in the home. And should be viewed as a "gateway" test IMO. It will help open the door for many more...
