Ramdas Swami also known as Samarth Ramdas Swami was a 17th century संत. Born as Narayan in a Brahmin family on the auspicious day of Ram Navami in the year 1608, it is believed that he was initiated into spritual studies by Bhagwan Ram himself.

He was the Guru of Shivaji Maharaj and later on his heir and the next Maratha King Sambhaji Maharaj. He is believed to have attained enlightenment at the age of 24 and was a great devotee of Bhagwan Ram and Bhagwan Hanuman right from his childhood.
He is known for his various works. Most popularly he is known for दासबोध and मनाचे श्लोक. His life is full of miracles that are attributed to him. Once when came across a dead Brahmin named Giridhar Kulkarni, he (Ramdas Swami) brought him back to life.
Giridhar Kulkarni's first born Uddhav went on to become a disciple of Ramdas Swami.

He was 12 when he left his home village and travelled to Nashik and spent the next 12 years in intense penance.
Having attained enlightenment, he then spent the next few travelling the land and understanding the living conditions of the people under the tyrannical Mughal rule.
Ramdas Swami spent his life gathering disciples and his teachings were not only related to spiritual advice but also aimed at giving political advice and removing Mughals and reviving Hinduism. At the time of his death, he had 1000s of disciples.
He lived the later years of his life at Sajjangad. He passed away in 1681 was attended to until the very end by his devoted disciples.
