How to avoid flailing when you decide to make health changes [Thread] ⬇️

#1 Know you why.

What is the force that is going to drive you to stay disciplined?

Aesthetics? Freedom? Longevity? Some train for their children or family.

Know what the reason is you want to train.
#2 Understand it isn't a linear process

You may lose 10lbs of the 40lbs you need to lose in the first few weeks

Then you come to a dead stop

This is where you must hammer down

Fight for every lost lb of fat or lb of muscle gained

It's a long, slow climb with no real ending.
#3 Master One Thing At A Time

Don't try to overhaul your diet, sleep habits, lift weights 6x/wk, cardio 3x/wk, yoga 3x/wk, all at the same times

Pick one or two

COMMIT

Commit to progressive strength training 3x/wk
Commit to drinking 1 gal water/day

Stack those habits 1 by 1
#4 Hire A Coach

The best coaches have coaches

If the best coach you know has a coach

Why the hell do you think you don't need one yourself?

This investment will give you a jumpstart and give you the accountability you need to make positive changes

You'll waste far less time
#5 Surround yourself with supportive people

If you want to get strong, join a hardcore gym.

Soak in all the knowledge you can.

If you wan't to run marathons, find a club of marathon runners.

Get your spouse, family, friends on board with your journey.

Support is HUGE.
#6 If its worth doing, its worth doing right

It takes a long time to develop the right habits and see progress

Master useful skills like proper movement in the weight-room and learning how to cook real food.

Don't short change yourself on any aspect of the process
#7 Stop looking for shortcuts and hacks

Theres no such thing

Anyone selling these things is scamming you

Avoid anything that says "Shortcut, Hack, Secret, Easy"

Fit-powders and ab-shredders are not a thing

"Abs in 4 weeks" MY ASS

This shit takes time. Hard Work. Dedication
#8 Have specific goals.

I want to gain 50lbs on my deadlift.

Okay cool, How?

SMART example.

Specific: Deadlift
Measurable: in lbs
Agreed upon: Get deadlift strong
Realistic: gain 50lbs on deadlift
Time: 6 months

Know how you are going to feel if you achieve your goal.
So summary to keep you from flailing
