Thread 1/8 When I decided to become a full-time #trader 16 years ago, #money was not my motivation. And it still isn't. While making a living off the markets is great, #qualityoflife is the main reason I trade. These are the reasons I trade....
/8 When I was younger I had a lot of #socialanxiety (thankfully, not anymore). I loved finance but the thought of having to work a 9-5 was scary. Trading offered me a way to work on my own, with others when I wanted, but I had the freedom to choose...
/8 I also trade for the freedom/time. I'm not after money...as long as I make enough to do what I want when I'm not trading. I #golf every day during the week in the summer, and #workout and/or #rockclimb 5 days/week during the winter...during the day, not the packed evenings.
/8 Because of trading I have time to run errands—shopping, cooking, etc.—during the day. When there is less traffic and fewer line-ups, leaving evenings free to enjoy and relax. No commuting!
/8 I create my #income and it is not based on others, a boss, or the economy. I can make a living no matter what is going on—assuming I have an internet connection. I can't be fired, and I feel secure in knowing that I can provide no matter how shitty things may look outside.
/8 Trading is one of the greatest intellectual endeavors to undertake. A trader never "arrives". I always have to execute patience & discipline. Any lapse, regardless of my past track record, can unravel everything. Being on top of my game is required at all times. I love it.
/8 I trade because I love it. It's my hobby, my passion. That's a huge advantage. It means I put in hours for fun. If you trade, but don't really enjoy it, you'll be crushed by people who breathe, eat, and shit strategies and #selfimprovement. Don't half-ass it.
/8 There are many benefits trading offers beyond "money". Define what you want out of your trading. Make it personal, and then go after it. I love golf, road trips, and being active, so my trading is centered around making that happen. What are your reasons for trading?
