Ever heard of mindfulness?

It's a phrase thrown around lately as an answer to everything like:
- insomnia
- anxiety
- depression
- addiction
- productivity

But what is it really?

And how can you get started?

Here's some info

(thread)
What is mindfulness?

It's when you’re present in the current moment

That means you aren’t worrying about your past
Or stressing about your future

Most stress and anxiety comes from the frustration of not being able to change or control something
Meanwhile the present

which is what you’re ignoring

is the one thing you CAN control

Here’s how to stay in the moment:
1. Breathing Exercises

✅Close your eyes
✅Inhale deeply
✅Count to five
✅Exhale through your mouth

Focus on natural breathing
Make sure to clear your mind from any thoughts and worries

Focus only on your breath coming in and out

This can take less than 30 seconds to do

and you’ve already done so much for yourself!

See how easy it is?
2. Set positive intentions

Focus on positive thoughts about your success instead of obsessing about failures

Think about something positive and repeat it to yourself before starting a new day or project

Mine is: “Someone’s life can change for the better after they read this.”
3. Keep a mindful journal

Writing in a journal on a regular basis is a great way to explore your mental blocks that are stopping you from success

It can help identify any irrational or distorted thoughts that may be stopping you from having a positive mindset
The planner I use the most to keep on track with my positive mindset is from Dailygreatness

4. Notice your thoughts

When you try to focus your mind on the present, it’ll always keep trying to predict the future or regret the past

The best thing to do is to:
✅Notice them
✅Write them down
✅Challenge them
✅Reframe them
