Daily reminder that common meditation practices can cause adverse reactions, dissociation, trauma responses, or even flashbacks in trauma survivors!
Longer sessions of Buddhist meditation is commonly reported to bring up repressed/forgotten memories, even in non-traumatized practitioners - so approach with caution if you might have repressed trauma.

(Unearthing trauma before you’re ready can be retraumatize you)
Meditation that focuses on breath work and body awareness can trigger body-memories in folks with CPTSD, and cause dissociative episodes.
If you’re a trauma survivor practicing meditation, meditate for 10 mins or less at a time, take breaks, practice trauma-informed meditation, and always practice in a safe place 💕
