Why Obesity Is The Largest Health Crisis We Are Facing

(and it's not even close) 👇
42.4% of American adults are obese right now (CDC).

By 2030, that number is projected to increase to 48.9% (New England Journal Of Medicine, 95% confidence interval)

That's nearly 1 in every 2 people that will be obese.

Let's talk about the implications of this...
Costs:

The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the United States was $147 billion in 2008 US dollars; the medical cost for people who have obesity was $1,429 higher than those of normal weight. (CDC)
Health:

Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes & types of cancer. (CDC)

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, with at least 2.8 million people dying each year as a result of being overweight or obese. (WHO)
Day To Day:

Obesity has been correlated to

- lower energy levels
- lower self-esteem
- lower income
