5 factors effecting your strength

THREAD ⬇️
1) Muscle Size

It's no surprise that the strongest lifters in the world in strongman/powerlifting carry a lot of muscle mass.

More muscle has more potential to produce more force when trained for strength

Don’t skimp on dedicated hypertrophy phases within your training.
2) Arousal

Lifting with a full squad of elite lifters? Or on your own in a quiet gym. This will have some sort of effect on arousal and strength levels.

Also, lifting at a competition in front of a crowd can help you find that extra gear and propel performance even higher.
3) Origins/Insertions

A muscle that attaches further from a joint is capable of producing more torque at that joint.

But our muscles mainly attach pretty close to the joints they move.

If your pecs insert further down your humerus, you’re more suited to be a big bencher.
If your lats insert further down your humerus, there's a good chance you'll be good at heavy weighted pull ups.

You've got to embrace the hand that you've been dealt.

But everyone has different biomechanics, and there is no one size fits all approach with technique.
4) Segment lengths

Very similar to origins and insertions in that they can play a role in strength production, but you’ve got to play with the hand you’ve been dealt.

This has everything to do with moment arms.
A person with longer femurs and short torso in comparison to shorter femurs and shorter torso, will have to work against longer moment arms in the muscles of the quads, glutes, adductors and hamstrings when it comes to squatting and producing more force.
5) Neuromuscular efficiency

The nervous system can be trained to produce more force leading to greater maximal strength potential.

There is a skill component to lifting maximal loads which needs to be trained.
The best lifters have been practicing these lifts for years consistently to fine tune producing force under maximal loads

Increased frequency of certain lifts improves neuromuscular efficiency by shorting the SRA curve (Stimulus, recovery, adaptation) of technical improvements
