•Habit tracking in a bullet journal (I’m a chronic journal beginner & abandoned but getting basic, dotted notebooks & following the same formula each time is working)
•Repeating to myself what I’m doing while I’m doing it do I don’t lose focus & start something else https://twitter.com/chantayyjayy/status/1323586283713777664
•Currently experimenting with a timer on my work desk. Used it to time roughly how long I’m able to work in a block before I really really get antsy & then applying that to projects. Half an hour on one thing before I change focus & work on something else for example
•Having a little stand across the roomwhere I put my phone. When it’s on my desk (which is mostly is 🥴) I will pick it up without even knowing I’m doing it. Putting it across the room means that when my mind wanders it doesn’t find all my apps. Makes it easier to lead it back.
•I makes notes of everything I can. I don’t like doing it and I sulk about it but my memory is very bad & important information can vanish as though it never was. Writing it down on my notes app or on a post it is a little safety net. I’m not perfect at this but it can help.
•For tidying my room I use a system of 1) get everything that doesn’t live here in one pile outside the door. 2) dirty clothes in one pile & clean clothes in another 3) pick up item, put item where it lives 4) CONSTANTLY ENTERTAIN BRAIN WITH PODCAST 5) don’t leave the room
•Another good one for room is having a box (medium sized, bit bigger than a shoe box) that can act as a sort of halfway house for items that you can’t really confront or put away yet. don’t let the box overflow & aim to empty it once a week or put bits away when you have a sec
•For getting started on something you’re avoiding I like to commit to literally 5 mins of it. My big one is invoices. Love getting paid, still put off invoicing for MONTHS. 5 mins is always doable &often turns into a completed task.Even if it doesn’t it removes a lot of the fear
•ADHD is very difficult. It requires a lot of energy to work with & around. It’s complex & people misunderstand it in the most obtuse ways possible. Just learning about it from smart, sensitive people has been huge. It’s a wonderful gift & it also brings me to tears. That’s okay
