how to make your fresh produce last longer (a thread):

you will need:
- reusable silicone pouches
- glass containers w/ lids
- cloth produce bags
- beeswax wrap paper
- thin kitchen towels

placement matters. certain foods must be in certain places AND next to certain foods.
what goes in the fridge:
- apples
- broccoli
- brussels sprouts
- cabbage
- carrots
- cauliflower
- cucumbers
- green beans
- limes
- lemon
- mushrooms (paper bag)
- pears
- peppers
- zucchini

in a container w/ lid:
- berries (all of them)
- cherries
- grapes
get a small glass or jar w/ cold water and place these foods upright then wrap the outer part with a kitchen or paper towel.
- asparagus
- cilantro
- mint
- parsley

for dark leafy greens: roll them in a kitchen towel or use a glass container and create layers w/ paper towels.
what can go in the freezer:
- broccoli
- grapes
- mangos (cut up)
- pineapples
- scraps of carrots, onion, celery, mixed peppers to make your own veggie broth for soups and stir fry.
what goes on the kitchen countertop at room temp:
- avocado
- bananas
- kiwi
- mangos
- melons
- oranges
- pears
- peaches
- tomatoes

to speed up ripening: place fruit in a paper bag with a banana.

but if you need more time, place them in the fridge.
what goes in the pantry in a cool, dry, dark place:
- garlic
- eggplant
- onions (keep separate)
- potatoes
- sweet potatoes
- winter squash

keep in an open container or basket and out of direct sunlight. they really do not fck with light.
important pairing tips:
- keep apples and pears away from broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, mangos, and leafy greens.
- keep onions away from everything. only garlic is cool with onions.
- keep bananas away from winter squash.
