Traditional progression of COD/Agility training

Pre-planned ➡️ Reactive

Absolutely nothing wrong with this.

But...

Just because something is reactive doesn’t always make coordination more difficult and load higher...
Reactivity combined with the need for a large change in momentum direction however does

I think we should separate the following in our progressions:

📌Approach speed (Momentum)
📌Cutting angle
📌Reactivity
High speed? Cool, don’t combine with large angle changes. Curves, linear decel.

Relatively static start? Cool, make a large angle change. Multi-directional initiations

Both can be reactive and at the start of a progression without any -ve impact of skill development or load IMO
Work your way up to something sports specific where speed, angle and reactivity are at their most demanding

Start people on that continuum where they need to be based upon current skill set, not at the start because ‘it’s the start’
