Why I Push Strength Training so hard [Thread] ⬇️

I battle Scheuermans Kyohosis which is Hyperkyphosis of the thoracic spine.

(Can see in image below)

It’s genetic.

Basically wedging of vertebrae in my upper back.

I had terrible back pain from age 15-17 due to this.
Nerve pain radiated down my leg.

The pain in the lower back made activity hard.

My hamstrings, LB,chest, and shoulders got tight due to the postural problems.

My spine is locked in where it is

No fixing it.

My doctors told me to avoid lifting and playing contact sports
I was chubby fella growing up.

Add in the “hunch back”

People told me “stand up straight” and “don’t slouch”

I had played baseball growing up and all I wanted to do was play college ball.

My back and being chubby hurt my athleticism.

I looked for ways to help fix it.
I saw on a forum that a guy had done some strength training to help alleviate his symptoms.

I hopped on the Starting Strength program.

I got stronger and my pain lessened.

Strengthing all of those muscles in my back helped tremendously.
Before that, I couldnt do a push-up.

I couldn’t do a pull-up.

I wasnt athletic enough to compete in high school.

Getting stronger, the right way, turned the tides for me.

I lifted hard.

I practiced hard.

Despite my limitations.
I went on to play 4 years of college baseball as a pitcher.

Even with kyphosis and limited spine/hip/shoulder mobility I was able to throw baseballs 90mph+

I now squat and deadlift in the 400’s

I have to be careful with my back while training

But I never let it be an excuse?
The question is... what is your excuse?

Tons of people on fitness twitter battle with something but crush it

Mothers, fathers, folks with full time jobs, people with disabilities

We’ve all found the importance of taking care of our body

So should you.

Get strong.
