Talking to a close friend and thinking about how, even though we’re probably the largest OSDD-1b youtube System, we don’t actually... use that label often
When it comes to in-person activism, or talking to singlets in our life we always almost use DID, with a mention to OSDD - because it’s much more easily recognized. That’s what they know and that’s what they need to break down harmful misconceptions around.
We also see very little actual difference between DID & OSDD-1b. It feels like putting folks in two boxes of black and white, amnesia or no amnesia - where it is much more of a spectrum from one to the other - even though the therapy + 95% of life experiences are no different
Not to mention that some of that separation is just... wrong in our experience. We, and many other OSDD-1b systems we’ve met, have multiple ANP-esc alters, and ANP/EP model saying we could only have one messed with us for awhile
(We have a lot of criticism of the ANP/EP model)
(We have a lot of criticism of the ANP/EP model)
And in our personal life, we just simply use “System” or “multiple” or “plural.” We live in those words just like “queer.” We love those words, and they mean a lot to us. https://twitter.com/TheRingsSystem/status/1234189688786866177?s=20
Addition: the distinction of DID vs OSDD has no impact on us, the multiples & the systems! It doesn’t change our therapy, it doesn’t change our steps to healing, it doesn’t change how we treat our alters or live on a daily basis. DID & OSDD systems do all these the same way.
(Continued) It’s an arbitrary line drawn in our community but neurotypicals who want to know more about our amnesia, and want to put it in a boxes - ignoring the spectrum it is, and how it can vary for systems over time. It’s about how it impacts THEM, now how it impacts us.
We see very similar parallels to how ADHD diagnostic criteria is based on how the person w ADHD impacts the neurotypicals around them - not how ADHD impacts the person.
