15 November 2010 fire destroyed a 28-story high-rise apartment building in the city of Shanghai, China, killing at least 58 people & injuring many more. A worker fitting ext flammable insulation ignited it, it was surrounded by a flammable dust control net & bamboo scaffolding.
Flammable cladding at the roofline, water supply issues, spontaneous simultaneous evacuation (no #EvacuationStrategy) - had this happened 12 hours earlier or later when everybody was in bed there would likely have been a catastrophic number of fatalities. https://twitter.com/MancCommunities/status/1147954075004264448
This one was initially internal fire spread: February 12, 2005, Madrid's iconic 29 storey Windsor Tower was destroyed by fire thought to have started due to an electrical fault. No fatalities. Fire spread up and downward. *trigger warning, huge blaze*
Incredibly fast fire spread, from one corner at the base of the 7 or eight storey building it consumes the entire facade in just seconds. Reportedly a polyurethane facade. Baku, Azerbaijan, 10th April 2015. No further info at present.
