Let's talk about Timo Werner. At this moment in time he's possibly the most physically explosive/dominant player in Europe. Will his style of play be successful when he inevitably moves to a big club? There are doubts IMO.
The way Leipzig play, particularly in Europe, make it pretty easy for Werner. He basically just runs into massive spaces and overpowers opponents 1v1. Won't get as many opportunities like that at say Bayern or for Germany. More packed defenses.
Doesn't mean he won't adapt. Top players always adapt. He's nowhere near an Mbappé though. Mbappé can be a one man counter attack like Werner but he can also create and link up in tight areas.
Based on this World Cup so far, Timo Werner is not good enough to play #9 for the top clubs. He should stay at RB Leipzig for another season or two and hone his game, otherwise a big failure is on the cards.
Werner far better when he was moved to the LW, that's his best role for higher quality sides that don't have 50 yards of space in front. Exactly the player we need at Arsenal on the left for Özil to pick out.
