don't rob your subjects of color of the detail in their hair when you photograph them.

video of what a hair light looks like and what it does.
if you don't have a strobe, bring the subject a little further off of the background.
if you are outside, try to use natural light to create a halo effect, by shooting them right between light and shadow.

Your skin will have a yellowish, golden and/or peachy hue if you fall on the warm side of the undertone spectrum think Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian & Beyoncé. People of Asian, Mediterranean and South American heritages typically fall in this category. cc @peoplestyle
For fair and light-skinned people, your skin will show hints of pink if you have cool undertones. Nicole Kidman, Adele & Emma Stone fit this bill. The darker the skin gets, the more you will see hints of red and blue in the skin, which indicates a cool undertone. cc @peoplestyle
when you edit embrace the shadows and highlights slider instead of contrast right off the bat to make sure you retain more detail in the skin tones.
