Jeongyeon made her way down the staircase ready to get this school day over with. However as she walked she caught glance of a moving pile of boxes, whoever was carrying them hidden behind the massive pile.

“Need some help?” She called out as she began to walk over.
“Its alright, I’ve got it” the voice behind the pile of boxes replied shakily.

“It sure doesn’t seem like you..” Jeongyeon started, stopping once she caught a glimpse of the girls left leg start to wobble. She felt a frown cross her face, reaching out to grab the box’s.
“I said I didn’t...” the latter began, then felt the weight of the boxes lessen in her arms. She let out a soft sigh, glancing over to see who had taken the boxes from her. She felt her eyes widen as they met the pair of light brown orbs, looking back at her.
A sharp intake of breath was heard, as she felt herself begin to stumble backwards.

“Woah..” Jeongyeon reacted, quickly dropping the boxes, instinctively reaching out to grab the girl before she fell.

Once steady the girl quickly pulled herself away. “Don’t.”

“Nayeon...”
“Don’t” Nayeon repeated coldly, diverting her eyes.

Jeongyeon sighed softly, as she watched the brunette kneel down and begin to collect the scattered contents of the boxes.

“Are you alright?” She asked, eyes still focused on the other girl.

“Not like you actually care.”
Jeongyeon felt her frown deepen as the words reached her ears. “Hey don’t be like that.. you know I care”

Nayeon didn’t look up, her gaze fixed on picking up the mess.

“Do I?” She mumbled her hand gripping the box.

“Nay..” Jeongyeon sighed again kneeling closer to her.
“I said don’t!” The older girls voice echoed in the empty halls, as she moved herself away and stood up.

Jeongyeon was startled by the sudden action and her eyes widened in shock.

“You don’t care!” Nayeon’s voice cracked as she spoke “you never actually cared.”
“Nay stop” Jeongyeon said looking up at her pleadingly. “You know that’s not true”

“Don’t call me that.” Nayeon spat as she shook her head. “You of all people have no right to call me that anymore”

The younger girl sighed, as she bit her lip. “please.. can we just talk?”
“Why bother? So you can lie again?” Nayeon scoffed.

“Nay..”

“Why should I listen to you?” The older girl asked looking at her sadly. “All you ever do is lie to me.” Her voice cracking as she spoke

Jeongyeon felt herself swallow, Nayeon’s words stinging as if someone hit her.
“Y-you promised me..” the older girls voice trembled as she spoke. Jeongyeon felt her stomach drop as she watched Nayeon’s eyes fill with tears.

It had been two years since she’d seen those tears, and she suddenly recalled how she never wanted to see them again. It hurt to much.
“Nayeon..”

“I’m an idiot for thinking you’d keep it” the older girl chuckled humorlessly.

“It’s not like you meant it, to you I was just a distraction after all”

Jeongyeon froze, bitting down on her inner cheek, guilt overtaking her once more as Nayeon’s words hit her.
Or better said her own words. Those had been words she had sent to Nayeon two years ago, words she long regretted saying.

Jeongyeon watched as Nayeon’s lower lip trembled.

She opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by the arrival of another presence.

“Unnie?”
Chou Tzuyu.

Jeongyeon watched as the younger girl appeared approaching Nayeon, eyebrows knitted in concern. “Are you okay?” She asked softly.

Nayeon nodded slightly, forcing a fake smile into her lips. “Y-yeah” she said barley audible. The girl frowned unconvinced.
“Unnie..” Tzuyu said with a frown tugging The older girls hands away from the boxes she was trying to organize.

Nayeon bit down on her lip trying to stop the trembling. “Tzu.. can you finish taking these to the student council room?” She asked trying to keep her voice steady.
The younger girl nodded, flashing her a small smile. “I’ve got it” she said softly.

Jeongyeon watched as Nayeon nodded, quickly turning to leave. As she did, she glanced back slightly casting one last look in her direction, the tears she held back now running down on her face.

As nayeon pulled open her front door, she was greeted by a tall familiar girl “What are you doing here?” She asked.

“Just making sure your okay” the girl responded. “I also brought food and movies”

“Im okay Tzu.. really..” The older girl said as she forced a smile.
Tzuyu flashed her an unconvinced look, which quickly made her divert her gaze avoiding eye contact.

Within a matter of seconds she felt a pair of arms wrap around her. The calm demeanor she had tried to keep instantly vanishing as she hid her face in the younger girls chest.
Tzuyu let out a sigh as she felt her unnie’s body begin to shake. She held onto her tightly, rubbing soft circles into her back.

She knew the reason for her hurting, & wondered if the other person involved was also feeling as much. She hoped there was someone there for her.
At another house across town, Jeongyeon opened her front door to find two of her best friends staring back at her.

“It’s going to be a long night” she sighed softly, as the two followed her to her room and took a seat on the bed.

“So what happened?” Jihyo asked once settled.
“A lot of stuff happened” the eldest girl mumbled, as she laid back staring at the ceiling.

“Care to elaborate?” Jihyo asked.

“What part would you like to hear? The part where I didn’t tell her I was moving away? Or perhaps me breaking my promise?” Jeongyeon said with a sigh.
“The part where I disregarded her feelings, and lied about my own? Or how I snapped at her and then completely cut myself off from her...” She sighed as the memories began to flood her mind once more. She had really messed up.

“All of it, start at the beginning” Jihyo replied.
Jeongyeon let out another sigh as she shut her eyes.

“I talked to you all about me leaving a few months in advanced, because I wanted to hear your thoughts.” She said quietly.

“Ya, but when it came to talking to nay about it, you continuously put it off” Jihyo recalled.

Jeongyeon let out a sigh, as she stared at her phones screen, waiting for any sort of response.

“Come on Nay...” she whispered to herself, closing her eyes “please”

After about a second, there was a sudden banging at her bedroom window, causing her to jump and open her eyes
Her eyes caught glimpse of a familiar brunette banging at her window, instantly getting up to open it. Once open she watched as the girl climbed in with ease.

It wasn’t the first time Nayeon had entered her room through the window, It had become a normal occurrence for them.
Though Jeongyeon had seen Nayeon climb in through her window a hundred times, this was the first time she’d ever seen her so out of breath.

“You biked all the way over here didn’t you...” The latter asked knowingly

“this is a joke right?” Nayeon asked ignoring her question
“You have to be.. it’s not real right?” She asked breathlessly.

“Nay..” The latter said stepping closer to her, causing Nayeon to reach out & grab the hem of her shirt.

“Please tell me it’s just another one of your stupid jokes...” She said looking up at her pleadingly.
“Nay...” Jeongyeon tried again, feeling the girls grip on her shirt tighten.

“Tell me it’s a joke Jeongyeon!” The brunette snapped louder than she meant to, her voice echoing throughout the empty house. Her pleading eyes still fixed on the taller girl.

“I can’t...”
Silence filled the room after the words left Jeongyeon’s mouth.

Nayeons grasp on her shirt never let up, and she could feel as her hand began to tremble.

“Y-you can’t move away... you cant just leave” Nayeon said voice trembling.

“Nay... please don’t..“
Jeongyeon started to say, but Nayeon was quick to cut her off.

“You can’t just leave.. your whole life’s here... everything’s here you can’t leave!” The older girl repeated.

Jeongyeon let out a sigh, but couldn’t say a word as the latter continued

“You don’t have to go..”
“My whole family’s going Nay.. I have to go..” Jeongyeon said, her voice laced with sadness as she looked at the older girl.

“You don’t!” Nayeon snapped back “you can stay here, you can stay with me or any of the other girls, you don’t have to go!”

Jeongyeon sighed “Nay...”
“Just tell your dad you won’t go... we can talk to my parents & we can get them to talk to yours about letting you stay..” the brunette rambled on.

Finally having enough jeongyeon cupped the older girls face, tilting her face up to look her in the eye.

“Nayeon.. listen to me”
Silence filled the room once more as they stared at each other.

Jeongyeon let out a sigh as she found the will to talk. “I already tried to get them to let me stay.. but they’ve already made up their minds”

“B-but.. there has to be something..”

Jeongyeon shook her head.
“There’s Nothing we can do Nay..” she whispered sadness lacing her voice.

“...H-how long” the older girl asked, not bringing herself to look the younger girl in the eye.

“2 years is the minimum.. but it could be more”

The response was followed once more by silence.
The silence slowly consumed the room, as neither girl said anything. The younger girl was certain it had already been 30 minutes, yet neither made any attempt to move nor speak.

She wanted to study Nayeon’s expressions but the older girl, refused to meet her gaze.
Despite her attempts to avert her gaze, Jeongyeon could see the glistening of tears she was trying to blink away.

She suddenly found herself lost in thought, dreading the thought of Nayeon’s tears falling.

“When do you leave?” a voice spoke pulling her from her thoughts.
“Huh” Jeongyeon blinked as she came back from her thoughts.

“When do you leave?” Nayeon asked again, her gaze focused on Jeongyeon now, her lower lip trembling.

“Nay..”

“When do you leave Jeongyeon.” She asked again her tone assertive.

“In just little over a week..”
“𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬” Nayeon could feel something inside her shatter, the second the words reached her ears.

She suddenly felt her legs betray her as she crumpled to the floor, her tears finally escaping her eyes followed by the loud sobs she’d been choking back.
Jeongyeon watched as the older girl crumbled to the floor, her sobs instantly filling up the room. She felt her self sink down beside her, the sight itself was unbearable.

It was too much to see the brightest thing in her life, breaking down right in front of her.

It hurt.
The younger girl wanted to say something, but knew there was nothing she could say to fix this.

She suddenly found herself wrapping her arms around the latter from behind, pulling her onto her lap. Though Nayeon’s sobs only grew louder, her body starting to shake uncontrollably.
Nayeon’s uncontrollable shaking in her arms, accompanied by the echoing sobs around the house, was too much for Jeongyeon to take.

She buried her face into the older girls hair, muffling the sobs she could no longer hold back.

𝘐𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩.
Hours passed, the brightly lit room now dimly lit by the bedroom lamp, the sun long since having set.

Neither girl had made any attempt to speak nor move, the only sounds filling the room were the sounds of their breathing and the quiet sniffles that had replaced the sobs.
At some point the younger girl stood, pulling the older along with her & taking a seat on the bed. Her arms wrapped around her once more, as she carefully laid them both back.

Nayeon’s head easily found its way into the crook of Jeongyeon’s neck, as the latter rubbed her back.
It wasn’t the first time they’d found themselves in this position. Over the years they had done it so much, whenever one was upset or overwhelmed, that it just came natural.

The only difference was this time neither girl knew how to fix the situation they were in.
After what felt like an eternity, Nayeon was the first to break the silence.

“Please don’t go” she sniffled as she buried her face in the younger girls neck.

Jeongyeon sighed, rubbing circles into the girls back softly.

“I don’t want to Nay... but I don’t have a choice...”
The older girl said nothing, only nodding, finally accepting that this was indeed happening.

Jeongyeon felt something wet against her neck, knowing instantly that the tears had started once more. She pulled Nayeon closer, holding her tightly.

“Shh..” She whispered softly.
Jeongyeon shut her eyes, trying to stop any other tears from falling, continuing to rub small circles into Nayeon’s back.

At some point the younger girl felt the older girls breathing shallow, realizing she had fallen asleep. She let out a small relieved sigh, relaxing a bit.
She hadn’t noticed she fell asleep, until the sound of birds chirping outside her window woke her. She blinked a few times trying to adjust to the sudden brightness in her room.

She felt her arms empty, realizing Nayeon was no longer there, and quickly jolted up in the bed.
“Good morning sleepy head” a familiar voice giggled from across the room, instantly calming the younger girl.

She followed the voice, her gaze landing on it’s owner. The brunette girl was seated by the window, her arm resting on the sill as she looked over.

“Good morning”
Nayeon smiled brightly in response, flashing the bunny teeth, that never failed to brighten Jeongyeon’s day.

For a moment The latter felt like everything was normal and all was right with the world, that is until she rememberedast night.

“Nay.. about yesterday..” she began
“No need to talk about that” The older girl quickly cut her off, pushing away from the window.

Jeongyeon furrowed her brows a confused look crossing her face “But-”

“We don’t have time to worry about yesterday!” Nayeon exclaimed quickly as she moved closer to her.
“You’re leaving in a week” the older girl continued taking a seat on the bed. “We need to focus on today and making every other moment in this week count, before you’re gone”

Jeongyeon’s eyes widened, a sad smile forming against her lips, as the realization of the words hit her.
In just a week she’d be gone, leaving behind everything and everyone she’d come to know & love over the years. She wouldn’t have her friends there with her.

The laughs & adventures they always shared, would be no more, at least not with her being a part of them anymore.
She glanced up at Nayeon, her bunny smile still present on her face, the sight alone causing a smile to form on her own.

“Yeah you’re right” Jeongeyeon finally said as she stood up taking Nayeon’s hands in her own. “Let’s make this week count” she said squeezing them gently.

Jeongyeon closed her phone, looking over at the girl standing beside her.

Nayeon was leaning against the railing in front of them staring up at the fireworks, her face eyes wide in astonishment. Her bunny smile making another appearance, much to the younger girls delight.
The latter turned her face slightly catching Jeongyeon’s gaze much to the girls chagrin, flashing her a smile.

“Come on, Watch the fireworks” Nayeon said with a soft laugh, taking a hand off the railing, reaching over to take the younger girls hand instead, pulling her closer.
Jeongyeon didn’t object, moving to stand beside her, attention now fixed on the sky. Their hands naturally intertwining within seconds, soft smiles forming on their lips.

They stayed like that for a while, neither girl saying anything as they looked up at the colorful sky.
“There’s something I want to say” Nayeon said breaking the silence. “I think I’ve wanted to say it for a long time.. but i never knew whether I should say it.. ”

Jeongyeon turned her head raising an eyebrow as she looked at the older girl “you know you can tell me anything..”
“Yeah, I know that” Nayeon nodded slightly eyes still fixed on the sky.

“But.. at the same time it scares me to think, if I say it out loud, it could mess everything up and change things between us”

“That’s Nonsense, nothing could come between us” Jeongyeon said frowning
“what if you think, what im saying is dumb?” Nayeon asked with a small chuckle “cause I’ve said it multiple times in my head & I constantly feel like the biggest idiot for even considering it.”

“Nayeon” Jeongyeon said sternly, tugging at the girls arm, making her look at her.
Nayeon looked at her tilting her head slightly.

“Nothing you say to me will ever be considered dumb. You’re not an idiot either” Jeongyeon said seriously. “I mean I know I tease you and call you that, but when it’s serious I would never think or say that... you know that”
Nayeon smiled, nodding slightly. “Yeah...” she said turning around to face the sky once more.

“Nayeon?” Jeongyeon asked still looking at the girl with a frown, concern beginning to bubble inside of her.

“I.. love you” Nayeon said quietly, not bothering to face the younger girl.
Jeongyeon blinked once, her brows furrowing in confusion. “That’s it?” She asked starting to chuckle. “I love you too”

It’s not like they hadn’t said those words to each other multiple times throughout the years, They were best friends after all.

Nayeon sighed softly.
“I don’t think you understand what I’m saying” Nayeon said softly.

“What do you mean?” Jeongyeon asked confused once more.

“I think.. I Love you” Nayeon said emphasis on the words, pulling her gaze from the sky, to look at the younger girl.

“How’s that different from...”
Jeongyeon began, but stopped herself as Nayeon looked at her. Something about the way she was looking at her, suddenly made everything click for her.

“N-nayeon..”

It was the same look she had seen countless times over the years while watching romance dramas with the latter.
The same look the lead would have when confessing their feelings to the person they were attracted too. It always happened and she always saw it coming.

The only difference now was, this was real life, and Nayeon was confessing to her.

“Get it now?” Nayeon sighed looking away
Jeongyeon stood frozen in place unsure of what to say or do. She’d be lying if she said, similar thoughts hadn’t been floating through her mind over the past few years.

The thoughts of her and Nayeon possibly being more than friends, constantly made her heart flutter.
To her surprise, the thoughts hadn’t scared her as much as she expected them to. Ic anything they always made her smile. She’d held off from saying anything, because like Nayeon she was scared of complicating their friendship because of feelings that might not be reciprocated.
But hearing the older girl saying what she’d been feeling & keeping hidden for so long, suddenly made her heart flutter again. Her feelings were shared.

Jeongyeon wanted to be happy, wanted to tell Nayeon she felt the same way, the way they’d always see them do in the dramas.
Unfortunately real life wasn’t as perfect as the dramas. The universe instantly reminding Jeongyeon why she couldn’t do that.

She was leaving tomorrow, in just a few hours she’d be on a plane headed miles away, leaving everything and everyone behind for god knows how long.
She couldn’t tell Nayeon the truth about her feelings, it’d only make things harder when she left.

If she told her, she knew the older girl would promise to wait till she came back, but that’s the last thing she wanted. She didn’t want Nayeon to put her happiness on hold.
She wanted her to move forward & be happy, while she was gone. She’d gone this long without telling Nayeon the truth, for the older girls sake she could go a little longer.

Taking a deep breath Jeongyeon let out a laugh, though forced, she tried to make it sound convincing.
Nayeon turned around, looking at the younger girl confused. “Ya! What’s so funny??” She asked furrowing her brows.

“You don’t really really love me as more than a friend Nay” Jeongyeon said, continuing her forced laugh.

“Jeon-“ Nayeon began frowning, but the Latter cut her off
“Think about it Nay. You’re just suddenly saying all this, coincidently the day before I’m gearing up to leave tomorrow” Jeongyeon said stopping her laughter.

“Yeah but..”

“We say crazy things when we’re scared and something bigs about to happen” The younger girl continued.
“Jeongyeon I’m not ju-“ Nayeon tried to interject, her lip trembling.

“Would you be telling me something like this if I wasn’t leaving tomorrow?” Jeongyeon asked looking over at her. “Would you still be saying this, if I was staying?”

Nayeon felt silent, bitting her lip.
Would she? If she weren’t leaving, would Nayeon be brave enough to say any of this outloud? Was she really feeling these things, or just saying these things in the moment.

“Would you?” The blonde asked again.

Nayeon looked up at her, pondering the question no more than a moment
Nayeon didn’t need another moment to think about it. She knew her feelings were real, she knew she meant them.

“No.. i wouldn’t” She lied nonchalantly, shaking her head. “You’re right”

There was no reason to further push feelings, that clearly weren’t reciprocated.
A hint of disappointment crossed jeongyeon’s face, though it disappeared just as soon as it came. “Thought So” she said softly looking back at the older girl.

“Yeah.. sorry” Nayeon replied, glancing up at the sky once more.

“It’s okay.. sometimes we confuse our feelings”
“Yeah..” Nayeon replied solemnly, doing her best to blink back some tears.

Jeongyeon noticed the glossy sheen reflecting in her eyes, & frowned slightly. “Nay?” She asked in concern

It was now Nayeon’s turn to force a laugh. “You know you’re right!” she quickly inbetween laughs
Jeongyeon raised an eyebrow looking at her.

“Feeling’s really makes us say crazy things” Nayeon continued as she forced her laughter. “You and me, as more than friends? Could you even imagine that?”

“I have..” is what Jeongyeon wanted to say, but instead bit down on her tounge
Instead she shook her head forcing her own laugh as she looked at Nayeon. “Nah.. Absolutely not” she responded quickly.

They both continued their fake laughs for a while, masking the pain they each felt in their chests, as they held back what they truly wanted to say.
Once their laughter died down, they noticed the fireworks had also stopped.

“Well we should probably go find everyone else now” Nayeon said wiping at her eyes, some tears had managed to trickle down, though she could easily lie & say they were from all her laughter.
The younger girl bit her lip as she looked at her, an unsettled feeling creeping into her chest at the sight of the tears.

Were they really from laughter?

“Jeong?” Nayeon’s voice called, breaking her from her thoughts.

“Huh?” She asked, realizing she hadn’t been listening
“We should probably go find the others now that the fireworks are done” Nayeon repeated, motioning to the festival crowds.

“Oh.. yeah we should” The younger said with a nod, as she began to follow Nayeon back towards the festival.

The walk back filled with an empty silence.

The dreaded morning finally arrived & Jeongyeon stood in the doorway, as her parents packed suitcases into the car. She sighed softly starting to think of everything, however didn’t have much time to dwell, as someone cleared their throat pulling her from her thoughts.
The blonde glanced up, to see a familiar group of faces looking back at her. She smiled sadly seeing her friends stand before her.

“What are you guys doing here?” She asked eyes surveying the 5 girls before her, a part of her looking for the 6th, but seeing no signs of her.
She sighed to herself, of course she wouldn’t come, especially not after the night before.

“Idiot did really think we’d let you go, without saying goodbye?” a familiar voice teased, instantly causing the blonde to glance up, just in time to see the brunette turning the corner.
A sense of relief instantly washed over Jeongyeon, as she watched Nayeon make her appearance.

“Of course not” Jeongyeon chuckled walking over to her friends, as she watched the bunny toothed girl crack a satisfied smile.

“Good” Nayeon responded simply.
The girls spent a few moments saying their goodbyes, a few years exchanged, multiple hugs, and a lengthy number of promises to keep in touch everyday.

Through most of the exchange, The oldest girl held back not saying anything as she leaned against the Yoo’s Van just listening.
One by one the other girls left, unable to stay longer due to prior engagements, until only Nayeon & Jeongyeon remained.

“You’re awfully quite” the youngest girl said as she walked over to the eldest.

Nayeon shrugged, flashing her a soft smile, making her heart flutter.
Jeongyeon bit her inner cheek as Nayeon suddenly pulled her into a hug. Despite what happened the day before, The older girl was actually here smiling at her as if nothing had happened.

“Promise you’ll message and write to me everyday” Nayeon said sternly as she held her close
“Of course I will” The younger girl said softly as she hugged the older girl.

“Promise me” Nayeon said pleadingly, tightening her grasp on the girl as if her life depended on it.

Jeongyeon swallowed, tightening her hold on the girl as well. “I promise Nay” she whispered softly.
Nayeon nodded a bit, burying her face into the crook of the younger girl’s neck. “Good” was all she mumbled after a moment.

Jeongyeon leaned her head on the brunettes closing her eyes, as she inhaled the familiar scent instantly feeling herself relax.
Neither girl said a word, staying like that for a while. Jeongyeon swore she could feel a sudden moisture against her neck, though Nayeon made no movement nor sound.

The moment was finally interrupted by the honking of the car, signaling it was time to go.
The two girls slowly pulled themselves away from one another, their eyes meeting for a moment, before Nayeon flashed a bright smile at the younger girl.

“Safe flight, talk to you soon” She said softly, as she stepped out the way

“I’ll message the moment I land”
“I’ll look forward to it” Nayeon said with a nod, smiling at the blonde once more.

The younger girl climbed into the car, instantly rolling down her window to wave, as the car drove away. Nayeon stood in place waving, till the car disappeared.

”Comeback..” she whispered
