Thread: Do you know the secrets of Surat Al - Kahf?

Have you ever wondered why Prophet Muhammad (saw) asked us to recite Surat Al- Kahf every Friday?

The Messenger of Allah said; If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surat Al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal. [Sahih Muslim]

And the Messenger of Allah said; Whoever reads Suratul Kahf on yaumul Jummah, a light will shine for him between the 2 Fridays (until the next Friday).

Surat Al- Kahf contains 4 stories and there is a lesson in each of them - now let me tell you the secrets and the lessons.

1. People of the Cave
Summary: The story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decided to migrate for the sake of Allah and run away.
- Allah rewards them with mercy in the cave and protection from the sun.
- They woke up and found the entire village believers.

2. The owner of the 2 gardens
Summary: Story of a man who Allah blessed with 2 beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to thank the One who blessed him with everything and he even dared to doubt Allah regarding the afterlife...

- His garden was destroyed
- He regretted at a time regret did not benefit him.

3. Musa and Khidr
Summary: When Musa was asked: Who's the most knowledgeable of the people of Earth? Musa said; Me.. but Allah revealed to him that there's someone who knows more than him....

Musa (AS) traveled to the man and learnt how the Divine Wisdom can sometimes be hidden in matters which we perceive as bad.

4. Dhul- Qarnayn
Summary: Story of the great king that was given knowledge and power, and was going around the world helping people and spreading all that's good.
- He was able to overcome the problem of Jooj-ma-jooj (Gog and Megog ) and...

build a massive dam with the help of people whom he couldn’t even understand.

So what did we learn from the 4 stories?

TRIAL OF FAITH: The first story, people of the cave was about the Trial of faith - Allah tests by hardship, the solution is to put trust in Allah.

TRIAL OF WEALTH: The second story, the owner of the 2 gardens was about the trial of Wealth - if you are arrogant of Allah's grace, He may destroy all your wealth, so always be thankful.

TRIAL OF KNOWLEDGE: The third story, Musa & Khidr was about the Trial of Knowledge - Allah gives knowledge (ilm), but be humble and modest.

TRIAL OF POWER: And the last story, Dhul-Qarnayn was about the Trial of Power - Allah gives power, use your power and wealth to serve the weak and poor.

And also in the Middle of this Surah, Allah mentions Iblis as the one who stirs these trials;

So what's the relationship between Surat Al-Kahf and the Dajjal (Anti- Christ)?

The secret is that Dajjal will appear before the Day of Judgment with the 4 trials;

Trial of Faith, He'll ask ppl to worship him nd not Allah
Trial of Wealth, He'll be given powers to start/stop rain and tempt ppl with his wealth
Trial of Knowledge, He'll trial ppl with the 'knowledge' and news he gives them
Trial of Power, He'll control huge part of the Earth

And how do we survive these trials?
-By being humble, sincere, call Allah, remember the hereafter, knowing the truth of this world, and good companionship - and you will find all these answers in Surat Al- Kahf.

1. Sincerity [Surat Al - Kahf, verse 110]

2. Calling to Allah [Surat Al - Kahf, verse 27]

3. Remembering the Hereafter [Surat Al - Kahf, verse 47-49]

4. Good companionship [Surat Al - Kahf, verse 28]

5. Knowing the truth about this World [Surat Al - Kahf, verse 45]

6. Humbleness [Surat Al - Kahf, verse 69]

Do you know the secrets of Surat Al - Kahf ?
- Let us all read it today with contemplation, understanding and sincere intention to implement its lessons, to protect ourselves from the Fitnah of Dajjal and all the other trials of Dunya & Akhira. Ameen.
