5th Nov 1817 - 200 years ago this day: 'Battle of Khadki'

Bajirao II vs. British...start of 3rd Anglo Maratha War.

'Battle of Khadki' was fought near the present day #Pune University campus (Khadki, Ganeshkhind Area..Mula river on one side). See map:
British forces finally entered #Pune, reached Shaniwarwada on 17th Nov, 1817. Bajirao II fled the city and continued https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Anglo-Maratha_War
Bajirao II was on the run and continued the fight with the British across many large and small battles for another 7 months.
The final surrender (and the end of the 3rd Anglo Maratha War) happened in June 1818. Bajirao II was exiled to Bithoor (near Kanpur).
