2 years later and BJP has actually managed to do slightly better than the projected seats in #RajyaSabha, thanks to @AmitShah and the super aggresive floor management in various states throughout 2017. (remember the Ahmad Patel Saga) . They are already at 58!

Today, #BJP will gain at least 10 more members and will be ~70 member strong when the #RajyaSabha assembles next. Congress will go sub 50 as a bonus. These numbers are super critical for #NewIndia #AspirationPolitics

This is how BJP will gain these 10+ seats today. #UP2017 was a massive victory, without that victory, this needle in #RajyaSabha was not going to move much. #RajyaSabhaElections #NewIndia

So BJP takes its tally to 71 in #RajyaSabha , while NDA along with nominated members is almost at 100. I hope they use this increased strength to further push #AspirationalPolitics and policies for #NewIndia

#RajyaSabha will now not change much till 2020..that's the year when 70 new seats will open up. BJP need to win more seats in Odhisa, Maharashtra and retain max in RJ and MP if it wants to touch 100+ on its own. That will be a new era! #UCC #LandReforms #LaborReforms

Let me follow up on this evolving #RajyaSabha picture. You may refer to this ~4 year old thread. Most of the news will focus on just the 24 seats that were for grabs in this #RajyaSabhaElections , but won't show the total picture of new #RajyaSabha.

Sorry for missing out the action in between, basically BJP broke 4 TDP MPs in AP and through some other maneuvers, has managed to do slightly better than earlier prediction. When #Monsoon session starts, BJP will have 83 of its own members in #RajyaSabha.

No single party in last 3 decades had 75+ seats in upper house. Next Major push is coming in November, when BJP will push 9 out of 11 seats in UP, they will gain 6 MPs in the process and end up with 89 MPs in #UpperHouse. Add the nominated+INDP, we are ~100, That's HUGE!!

Add to this NDA's 16 seats (JDU, SAD, LJP, RPI, SDF, AGP, BPF).. and then we have ~33 seats in NDA aligned parties(issue based support from BJD, TRS, YSRCP, AIADMK)..
Anti-NDA #RajyaSabha tally is <100, will be <90 by this year end.

As you see.. no major gainer other than YSRCP and no bigger loser than the usual suspects, darling of the Lutyens, the one that has a leader in making for decades..
