Just a reminder, before you say again what people in Texas deserve, that the majority of Texans didn’t vote for Ted Cruz or Greg Abbott or Dan Patrick. We’re forced to endure them because of voter suppression.
Republicans, who have gerrymandered their hold on the Governorship, and both state legislatures in Texas for decades, have made it harder to vote in Texas than any other state. https://www.texastribune.org/2020/10/19/texas-voting-elections/
Texas has closed at least 750 polling places since parts of the Voting Rights Act was struck down in 2013, disproportionately in districts with the most voters of color. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/mar/02/texas-polling-sites-closures-voting?CMP=share_btn_tw
It’s absurdly hard to register to vote in TX, where there is no online voter registration, & Texas has some of strictest Voter ID laws in the country, passed also after the gutting of the VRA. https://www.npr.org/2018/04/28/606730179/texas-voter-id-law-stands-for-midterm-elections-court-rules
This year, the Gov refused to expand mail-in-voting DURING A PANDEMIC, and the Lt Gov sued to stop local election officials from mailing out vote-by-mail applications, calling concerns about coronavirus “a scam” https://www.texastribune.org/2020/05/22/texas-dan-patrick-voting-by-mail-coronavirus/
Lots of great orgs are fighting to overcome this, and if you want to get rid of Ted Cruz, and Greg Abbott, and Dan Patrick as much as we do, consider sending them a little dough when you can spare it:
