About once a day i think about how most people only see movies they can stream on an average of 2 or 3 streaming platforms, and what that's doing to us in terms of perpetuating a monoculture https://twitter.com/edgarwright/status/1362711583995092992
i can't tell you how many times I've been asked this nebulous, "what makes good art / how do i figure out what art means" question from young artists who only look at art on twitter.
A lot of the time they want me to like....explain the answer to them in a way where they won't have any questions after? Like if i can just give them a recipe to follow they'll get predictable, satisfying results and wont have to struggle and risk failure but uhhhh
Maybe if you've always had access to twitter and streaming services you have no frame of reference for the work most artists spend years doing of just...seeking out everything that wasn't immediately available to them? Its not a criticism, just maybe that's what's going on
Oh god, i think about this all the time!!!! If you want a smart, literate comics culture you can't rely solely on mobile comics platforms to spoonfeed it to you because that's the only way you make time to read them https://twitter.com/CheerfulGoth/status/1362773501883674625?s=19
