Aw, the poor wee snowflakes. 😭

If someone's on the right when they're young, there's probably something really wrong with them. Because it suggests they have no heart.

That's why right wing students get a hard time (though nothing like what Dan suggests). https://twitter.com/DPJHodges/status/1362735902993350658
What did I think of student politics at UEA or Oxford? I thought they were hilarious. So full of ego, it was unbelievable.

I notice Dan strangely not objecting to how expensive (and therefore exclusive) Oxford Union membership is. Or stuff like this: https://www.ft.com/content/f4dedd92-43c7-11e6-b22f-79eb4891c97d
There's a whole group of people 'running' (sic) Britain who've been privileged as hell since the day they were born. And whose arrogance and lack of empathy drives everything they do.

But Dan, finger on the pulse as ever, thinks it's all about the left instead. 🙄🙄🙄
Why are so many university lecturers on the left? That one's really easy to answer.

1. Because people on the left see causes, not symptoms

2. Because people on the left are drawn to caring professions: towards vocations, not money.
So graduates on the right swan off to management consultancy (the ultimate vacuous, bullshit job), 'tax advice', the City of London, or Mummy and Daddy get them a job at The Sun or The Mail.

While graduates on the left actually want to HELP people. HOW AWFUL. 🙄🙄🙄
But hey ho. When you realise that Dan's whole life is about rebelling against his brilliant mother, it all starts to make sense.

You'll never be fit to lace her boots, Dan. And you know it.
The more intellectually curious someone is, the more likely they are to be on the left.

The better educated someone is, the more likely they are to be on the left.

The more compassionate someone is, the more likely they are to be on the left.
The greedier, more cynical, more selfish and more ruthless someone is, the more likely they are to be on the right.

"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness".
And universities tend to be full of intellectually curious, well educated people with compassion.

It's not rocket science.
As people get older, they don't suddenly 'find a brain' and move rightwards. They either:

- Become increasingly selfish and ruthless in a culture that wildly encourages and celebrates both

- Find it harder and harder to make ends meet in a society which demands they sell out
Of course, it's perfectly possible not to sell out. But it's hard. Our job on the left should be to ensure that it's NOT hard; that as many as possible get to pursue their vocation, and that it's properly remunerated.
