Apparently the centrist dream is a university where academic ideas can be banned by the state but racial slurs can't be complained about.
*NB This is also the fascist dream.
This has as much to do with protecting academic freedom as it does with promoting the pursuit of truth, i.e., nothing.
Anyway, if you've been casually parroting the claim that universities are SJW indoctrination centres that have been taken over by postmodernists, which is bullshit, this is the project you've been helping along. Well done! You've made teaching and research palpably harder to do.
And we're well past the plausible deniability stage. I have yet to meet a self-proclaimed "free speech absolutist" or "campus free speech" person who wasn't fine with reporting their own colleagues, much less academics they don't know, for offering criticism they didn't like.
Some of them even work in "human rights"! What a joke.
This is a direct attack on scholars who work on race or gender, and by extension on their fields, programs, and students.

Indirectly, it's an attack on pretty much anyone who relies on universities as spaces for autonomous research and teaching.
I mean, I'm a white guy teaching *European history*! The two courses I teach most often are "The Enlightenment" and "The Scientific Revolution"!

And when *I* go after these frauds their fans tell me I'm a PoMo/Marxist/SJW destroying civilization!

The bad faith is boundless.
But 99/100 times the Sokal Squared/Quillette/IDW targets are BIPOC and/or women scholars studying the wrong things (race, gender, empire), being in the wrong places (STEM), or voicing the wrong opinions (trans rights, decolonization). That's not a coincidence. That's the point.
