I love a good round up of talks! But what about #rstats talks that you *wish* were out there? For me, its 1️⃣ fonts, and 2️⃣ unit testing. Any volunteers? https://twitter.com/WeAreRLadies/status/1361681440866512899
Fonts 1/ How about “Fonts for aspiring rtists”? The graphics coming out of #TidyTuesday are phenomenal, and I’m seeing how incredibly elevated they can be w/ choice of font.
Fonts 2/ But I don’t know much about fonts… so here are my questions.
Fonts 3/ What do I need to know about serif/sans serif? What do I need to know about OTF/TTF/WOFF?
Fonts 4/ What considerations are there for fonts with regards to inclusivity? What font styles might be best suited for people w/ dyslexia or vision impairment?
Fonts 5/ Are there resources I could be using to find/install fonts besides google fonts?
Fonts 6/ How do you know what fonts pair well together?
Fonts 7/ What HAPPENS when a font gets installed on your OS? How come for Montserrat all of the variations got installed on my computer, but when I load them into R w/ extrafont I see a handful of them?
Fonts 8/ What are best packages & practices for working w/ fonts?
Fonts 9/ How does the interaction between output device & resolution affect sizing of fonts?
Fonts 10/ I think *a lot* of this touched on and made easier by @thomasp85’s recent updates to ragg , but I still want to see someone TALK about it https://twitter.com/thomasp85/status/1361357349085208579
Tests 1/ I am honestly not sure how to phrase my questions here b/c I know pretty much nothing about this topic. So… can you tell me everything? 😊
Tests 2/ How about this… should all functions get tests? Or are some types of functions better suited or more imperative to get tests?
Tests 3/ What kinds of tests can I write?
Tests 4/ What makes a good test? How do you make a good test better?
Tests 5/ Where does writing tests typically come in a development workflow?
Tests 6/ A lot of this is probably covered in Ch 12 Testing in R Packages by @hadleywickham & @JennyBryan, but I still want to see someone TALK about it 🙏 https://r-pkgs.org/tests.html
