It's not just skipping meals. It's not having enough money for heating AND food. No money for clothing and shoes either. Charity shops are shut, and whilst I know that many are expensive some are very cheap. I rely upon them for clothing and household items. https://twitter.com/Keir_Starmer/status/1362727302560423945
It's about not being able to replace items such as washing machines and cookers because you don't have the money to. Can't get credit either because their credit ratings are awful.
It's also about people being forced to go to places such as Brighthouse and Perfect Home to replace said items and having to pay back an extortionate amount of money
This then leaves them with no money at all and becoming reliant upon food parcels. When you've had 3 some food banks will refuse to give any more. Many do though.
It's about people having to make the choice of paying their rent or buying some food because they haven't eaten properly for ages.
Then they become homeless because they haven't paid their rent. This leads to a lot of people becoming street homeless and children being taken into care as a last resort.
It's about the whole bloody system being against them, discriminating against them if they're a parent, disabled or I'll and for being unemployed.
Remember Universal Credit was designed to fail people. Its the ending of the welfare state as we knew it.
Maybe if @Keir_Starmer mentioned these issues and more people would be supporting him more. At the moment people are feeling disenfranchised and alone in their suffering. We had the chance to change all of this but they stopped it from happening.
Shame on those that voted against and plotted against the very people that would have given the poorest in the UK the help and support that they needed. Instead they're talking about bloody bonds etc. The poor need help NOW.
So now we're supposed to sit back and accept that no one will support our plight. No hope for change is being given and it's heartbreaking for many.
I'll continue to campaign on these issues but left wing politicians are supposed to be doing this. No one's got our backs anymore except each other. It's bloody awful.
Their children won't be complaining of being cold and hungry will they.
