So....

....this is one that’ll bore you.

I’ve touched on ‘striving’ a year or 2 ago and 2 things happened yesterday to remind me of it.

1. My niece want to buy her first house and is scared she can’t afford it.

2. @SunderlandAFC takeover by Kyril Louis Dreyfus.

Both are..
...great news.

As a kid on stoops estate in Burnley, I would always be making a few bob. My Mam and Dad had nothing, as did all the rest around us.

It gave me a burning desire to make a break and get on the right end of the money-goes-to-money stick.

I went on and worked...
...hard back then, every hour, every day mattered.

I was earning. I’d play 3 card brag, dominoes, shoot in the pub like my life depended on it...

Looking back I was ‘striving’

When the kids were young, we’d be doing assembly work at home to meet the mortgage.

We’d be sat...
...playing cards, I’d have a glass of rum and coke and the budgie (butch) would stand on the rim of the glass, then land on my shoulder and back again.

I’d be putting in my own new kitchen after work till all hours, kids driving the mrs mad next door.

Looking back, we were..
..striving and rose colour glasses or not, it was the best period of my life.

Everything we had we’d worked hard for.

You set up your own business and it’s another hard, grinding struggle. You’re still striving, working all the hours god sends.

Time flies and you’re having...
...a ball in truth. It’s fun and there’s a comradeship in the struggle. It’s get you down from time to time but that’s to be expected.

Anyhow, I’ll try to wind this up, but could go on all day...

If you’re successful in business, the next step is money starts to accumulate.
The following step if this continues is that the money accumulated starts to do the work for you.

There is a magic money tree!!!

It grows of its own accord.

With no effort needed at all.

No striving, nothing.

Go to bed at night, get up in the morning, it’s grown some more.
There is no struggle and there is no point in striving because the money tree has took over..

What’s the point of this tweet?

My niece should struggle to get her first house. The value of it to her is directly proportional to the effort expended to achieve it.

The strive.
Now then, the strive isn’t there when the magic money tree takes over.

It’s easy to generate 6% return compounding on big money.

(MSD is charging 9-10% to a few football clubs allegedly)

If you’re a billionaire the capital grows faster than you can reasonably spend it.
It needs a home that gives a thrill, not real striving because you can’t lose your principal sum. (Nobody wants to kill the golden goose)

Football is a perfect home for the free money tree’s gains.

I can’t argue with the sale of @SunderlandAFC and wish them all the best. They..
..are a massive club and will definitely be back in the @premierleague soon with the backing they now have.

If you’re not a billionaire you can’t play up there now. You’re going to be squeezed out.

@ASFCofficial is different. Since reformation in 1968 the townsfolk strived...
...to rebuild it, nearly going under many times.

The striving, bucket collections, sponsored walks and the rest of it is what makes it their club.

They’ve shed blood and tears to keep ‘the club that wouldn’t die’ alive.

They have an ownership that a @ManUtd fan can never...
...have or ever feel.

@ASFCofficial has to always do the best it can with what it’s got.

I will help it along and will help my niece only in a small way.

Because I know that without STRIFE nothing has any REAL value.

It’s OUR club not MY club.
Good morning BTW.
