“It is the job of museums to protect art” I say, having sold off the museum’s storage and convinced the trustees to give me a bonus bigger than a security guard’s yearly salary.
And museums have also managed this trick of convincing people that they’re somehow outside of capitalism and that their collections are somehow not also frozen wealth. They’re temples to capital! Accept this as a starting point and maybe we can get somewhere.
They said the quiet part loud but the job description actually hit the nail on the head.
