2/n The deal (not a treaty -- no signatures of ratification) grandfathered years of Iranian violations of its NPT violations; itself a dangerous foundation. And the limitations on enrichment and stockpiling were time limited (between 10 and 15 years). That was 6 years ago.

3/n After exceeding the agreed limits, moving closer to the red line, and caught doing work on bomb design ("peaceful" of course) as per the archive, reversing the clock to June 2015 is a non-starter. If a new deal w/ Iran is possible, it will need to be much tighter.

4/n In 2015 ( @BarackObama, @JohnKerry, @brhodes etal) a main objective was to "bring the Iranian regime back into the international community" via incentives. Iran took the money and ran -- into Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and elsewhere. The vision of harmony turned out to be a mirage

5/n The @ABlinken @JoeBiden 2021 sequel risks a repeat, with even greater costs in terms of ongoing warfare and terror, as shown in deadly Iran-backed rocket attack on Irbil (Iraq). The new team will need to restore American deterrence re the #Iran regime before any deal.
