I wouldn’t feel right not trying to get @mangiotto back on here, since he received all the hate for defending me...and since I now understand a little bit better what happened...let me explain something to those who haven’t sold their soul to the devil...
Like myself and many other folks on here, @mangiotto was confused about the amount of hate a tweet that said “stop jumping on people who don’t like old movies” got and why suddenly, after 2 years of #metoo and #Timesup prominent Twitter feminists came to the defense of a...
...young man who tweeted this at me, never mind whether he is 20, 25 or 50 years old. Age never really mattered when it came to misogyny...as it shouldn’t. People are righteously wondering...have the rules changed?
And just FYI, nobody doxxed young Evan, his name was in his bio, plus, everybody who knows Emerson College knows it does not expel students for talking shit. If you have the money, you get into Emerson and you stay in. So...certain feminists’ reactions were truly surprising
What if I would tell you that sometimes things on social media look like they’re one thing...but they’re really meant to do something else?
Too out there? Okay. How about this: the rules have not changed. A man, young or old, still doesn’t get to say “shut the fuck up and people won’t come after you”. It doesn’t matter if 4-5 prominent feminists decided to take a sharp 180 on that. Listen to your own moral compass.
It is also not okay to bully someone for 48 hours straight because they hate black & white movies. You don’t get to bully other people into your movie taste. I won’t even go into the many attempts at rewriting my tweet into a different version. It’s not ok. You know this.
Walter Chaw, who is a better human being than all of us put together, was rightly confused and disappointed at what played out here. He thought he was just having a friend’s back and shutting down misogyny and racism. But see...conflicts have layers when you’re Palestinian
Things really aren’t always what they seem on here...but I’m not asking you to believe my take on it. I’m asking you to not just believe when someone says “today the sky is green” even though you know it’s blue. To those of you who did exactly that, I saw you.
If something doesn’t seem right to you...it probably isn’t. A bunch of prominent film feminists having an abusive young punk’s back instead of the back of a Palestinian woman filmmaker? The same feminists liking nasty tweets about her? Yeah...it’s a fucking twist in the plot...
I know what this is about. I have explained to Walter what it is about. I’m not explaining it to you because it can’t be done on Twitter and I can’t call 70.000 ppl. All I am asking you to do, whether it’s related to this debate or anything else, is listen to your moral compass
...and don’t leave someone like Walter, who truly is the movie industry’s MVP, hanging by himself when he is out here questioning why so many ppl suddenly do the opposite of what they preach. Nobody has a more accurate moral compass than him. Plenty of people will vouch for that
Lastly, Fellini sucks, black & white movies suck more and I would love to talk some shit about Goddard as well, but he is pro piracy so naturally I love him. #FreePalestine #FreePalestine #FreePalestine
