Actually I have more to say. American individualism has so overtaken evangelical Christianity that putting the good of the greater community first in their political actions never crosses their minds.
It should be the primary princple by which they vote and act politically. This is the basic notion of wisdom and righteousness found in Proverbs. It's iterated by Jesus himself. "Go and do likewise."
Instead they act as just another self interested group. Oh they might say that of course the things they advocate for are for everyone's good but really it's just self expression. Putting one's identity as a stamp on the people around you.
Caveats that of course there are unsung Christians who do good every day all the time. But I mean the political expression of this larger group.
I was just reminded of this as Ted Cruz attends First Baptist of Houston. And he's a cultural attachment there. But I don't see much activity there. Maybe it's on a mailing list. Maybe. https://houstonsfirst.org/news-stories/winter-weather-updates
