There is one incidence that Puri Shankaracharya Ji narrates and I have also heard it from my Nanaji. Arya Samaja in Kashi was very active during the 1960s. They used to attack the congregation of Sanatanis with rods and stones.
At that time as well, the likes of Zakir Naik existed. They asked Arya Samaj to rebut Islam in its entirety. Arya Samaj was taken aback. They didn't have the capability to combat.
However, in their pride, they went ahead to contest, relying upon some outdated rebuttals in their books. Karpatriji came to know about this - he said no matter what these people do, if we have to combat Islam we should provide them ammunition.
Karpatriji provided the complete rebuttal and intellectual support to Arya Samaj then.
Swamiji always encouraged debate and discussion. Kumbhamela of Prayagraj used to be the place where key issues used to be debated.
Two books, almost like a treatise in Jyotisha, emerged out of these Shastrartha. In his style, he would suggest to his opponent the possible arguments that can make his (the opponent's) case stronger.
Many used to concede defeat at that moment itself because they knew that they were underprepared.
Such a stalwart is our Pujya. Was he not vilified? Was he not put to jail?
Was he not attacked by Arya Samaj goons? He was and he never complained about it. He wrote a phenomenal collection of rebuttals to western philosophies which later got published in the form of a book Ramrajya and Marxvaad while he was in jail.
He had the courage to oppose anything Ashastreeya and established a new temple altogether, to preserve the sanctity of the deity.
I always say this in our conversations, Dharma should live and Bharatvarsha should live: not the neo - Bharata that has Varnasankara Mleccha Yavan putras, but the one envisaged by our Rishis and Gurus.
India will live until we have Go Brahmin and Ganga. The Rishis that bless us with continuous light and wisdom, and show us the way to get to Parama Laskya of Moksha, are with us. All our endeavors must be aligned with the vision of our Rishis.
