Conversations we could be having:
- how do public racist displays from the discipline hurt academics and students of colour, and how can we support them best in this time
- how can we protect these people from having to engage with this kind of content
- is the response from those who run the listserv adequate in taking accountability for how it hosted and distributed racist content
- why is it OK for certain academics to use a professional mailing list as personal blog and the long term issues that led to this latest abuse
- if this discipline wants to attract a "diverse" cohort how is it making a safe environment for them
- who else in the discipline shares the views of the racist emailer, do we personally know any people like this, and how can we confront them about their racism
Conversations many of us are having instead:
- gr*pefruit sp*on funny
- I replaced some quotes with the word "gr*pefruit"
- today I acquired a gr*pefruit sp*on myself and have ascended into the eschelons of the elite
