7. We are not trying to trans people. Really, we're not. Just like gay people aren't trying to make other people gay. It's just that if you're trans we'll show you support and appreciation you probably won't get from the cis people around you. Just like gay people.
8. We don't get money from whatever the "trans lobby" is. Particularly not some weird conspiracy that seems to always be funded by Jews. I mean I'd love to get a check from Soros or whoever but it's just never happened.
9. And we aren't making big bucks for Big Pharma. Sex hormones are wayyy past their patent and have had generics for ages. Big Pharma doesn't make money from those.
They'd make far more money trying different brands of high-tech anti-depressants that never seem to cure the fact that we don't feel good in our own skin. If Big Pharma wanted to make money off of trans people, they'd try to keep us depressed.
Which TERFs are doing a great job at by, for example, preventing trans teens from having puberty blockers. But hey, I won't go ahead and accuse them of being funded by Big Pharma.
10. Yes the diagnosis for gender dysphoria in children mentions playing with toys for the opposite gender. We ALSO think that's shit. Turns out psychiatrists, even gender psychiatrists, aren't super aligned with the trans rights movement. We're working on it.
11. Identify just means to be + to say / know you are. If I say "I'm a man" I'm either lying or I identify as a man (because I'm a man and know I am one). It isn't some weird mystical trans terminology thing.
12. Yes, we hate the gender binary and patriarchy. We want to smash the gender binary and patriarchy. But also we have to live in a world with them and grew up in a world with them. So sometimes, unconsciously we reinforce it.
Sometimes even consciously. For example, as a feminist, you probably agree women don't have to wear makeup to look professional. But you're also probably going to wear makeup to a job interview, because you can't smash the patriarchy if you have no money and no food.
The same is true for trans people, sometimes we're gonna be extra gender conforming to avoid having too many negative consequences for being trans. The more we are accepted for who we are, the less we need to do this.
