The @cpi_aus says an analysis of NSW's ministerial diaries shows the Minerals Council, Bluescope and South32 had at least 29 meetings with senior cabinet members including the Deputy Premier in the last two years. #nswpol
The not-for-profit research centre says it collated the figures after John Barilaro criticised the @IPC_NSW for rejecting the Dendrobium mine expansion.
Executive Director, Han Auby says the level of access the diary disclosures reveal serves to undermine public trust in government insofar as it promotes a perception - baseless or otherwise - of ministerial bias.
"The diaries say quite general things about the mining industry, but some of them do talk about Illawarra operations, water policy, planning issues, one of them for example talked about Independent Planning Commission reform and the Dendrobium mine ...
so it is clear that they have been raising these issues, but we are not raising any allegations here, it is more just for the context of the public to be aware of."
