PetroCaribe has essentially collapsed now, because US sanctions make it difficult for countries to do business with Venezuela.

The recent increased "bilateral cooperation" which happened under both Obama and Trump was with the intention of distancing Jamaica from Venezuela.

Obama came here with the LNG deal, then the Trump administration was much more transparent with its aims.

Essentially, the US gov't had a massive anti-Venezuela concert in Colombia then sent trucks with "aid" to the Venezuelan border. They were set on fire from the Colombian side, then Maduro was accused of burning food and medicine.

There was no food or medicine in the trucks.
USAID is an evil organisation and they can't be trusted. Here's what they did in Bolivia: https://twitter.com/OVargas52/status/951433033315385344
Here's a thread of things they've been doing in other countries as well. They use dependency to entrench themselves in countries with US-friendly governments and then conduct covert ops to destabilise governments that they don't like. https://twitter.com/SiggonKristov/status/1182019138006458368
USAID has also helped to prop up the illegitimate government of Jovenel Moise in Haiti.

Moise is a US puppet who came to power after the US staged a coup and helped to rig elections there. https://twitter.com/madanboukman/status/1357550457598730241
In that link where @CapriCaribbean tells you to "read more", they feature a picture of Luis Moreno, the man who kidnapped and exiled the legitimate Haitian president in 2004. The text on the page also celebrates the neoliberal reforms of the 1990s. https://twitter.com/SiggonKristov/status/1321824271153451008
Btw the Bush administration spent hours on the phone threatening us when we tried to bring Aristide back to the Caribbean after Luis Moreno kidnapped and exiled him. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/cifamerica/2011/mar/15/haiti-jean-bertrand-aristide
It is worrying that CAPRI is doing PR for USAID like this, but at least it's transparent.

Both organisations are committed to supporting neoliberalism.

They will pretend to criticise injustice and the excesses of the status quo but work to uphold them. https://twitter.com/CapriCaribbean/status/1362448039651074055
Remember this organisation is headed by Damien King, who mocked the concept of food security.

This pandemic showed us why we need to take food security seriously, and you can see the impact of neoliberalism on Haiti: https://twitter.com/SiggonKristov/status/1147150908016517125
And despite doing all that, the US pretends/claims to care about Haitian business.

USAID tells us the same thing about Jamaican business, and we shouldn't believe it. https://twitter.com/USEmbassyHaiti/status/1144773364369764353
We can have a more honest conversation about bilateral relations between Jamaica and the US.
Donald Tapia, the most recent appointee as US ambassador to Jamaica, is a personal president of the fascist Donald Trump. He made strange, degrading, and arguably racist and classist comments towards Jamaican people who rejected something he said. https://twitter.com/SiggonKristov/status/1321562598026977282
The US threatened to impose a full blockade on us similar to what they have done in Cuba and Venezuela, where we wouldn't be allowed to use USD and our local banking systems and other things would collapse. https://twitter.com/SiggonKristov/status/1320457991406166018
At the onset of the pandemic, our government tried to procure testing kits and the US blocked it. https://twitter.com/DareeceteleSUR/status/1250775279062089728
Some of the biggest obstacles to developing the marijuana industry here are from the US' laws/policies.

While we struggle to develop the marijuana industry here, it's flourishing in some places in the US. https://twitter.com/SiggonKristov/status/1090776177965436928
