When Juventus signed Conte back in 2011 there was great skepticism around this move. A manager that hadn't won anything for a team that had come from back to back 7th places. People think this was a masterclass but the idea wasn't to make Juve great again in just one season.
Here's why: We had signed many different players between 2010-2011 that were considered either finished, unproven, no names or free agents. Among those we found Vidal, Pirlo, Barzagli, Simone Pepe, Giaccherini, Vucinic, among others.
This means that Juventus wasn't really in the position of spending big bucks especially right after building a new stadium. But not only this, Juventus was willing to bet on a project. Not aiming for immediate success, but aiming to build a road towards success.
The fact that Juventus got so lucky to find so many hidden gems (players AND coaching staff) is why many people don't understand what is happening today with Juve. We were never supposed to find success so easily as we did in 11/12. All of the planets aligned for Juve.
Today, we are not enjoying of that same luck. It is important to understand that this is a transition period, where Juve is putting all their faith in a new manager and a rejuvenated squad. Be thankful that we are still a top team and don't have to return from the ashes anymore.
We are still fighting and will continue to do so year after year. Trust the project, enjoy the small victories. This is my advice to Juventini that never lived through a banter era. I know it's hard to understand but trust me: Things get better. Don't miss out on the good things.
