A little over a month ago, the Labour MP @RupaHuq was quite dismissive of my decision to join @SDPhq. Let's see how the last few weeks have gone. F
Firstly, some background. The SDP is a patriotic, economically left-leaning, culturally traditional party that believes in family, community and nation. Anyone interested in more info can find out more here: https://sdp.org.uk/
So what have Labour been upto in the month or so since I joined the SDP and attracted the attention of Ms Huq? Well firstly they discovered that the British people like their politicians to be patriotic: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/politics/2021/feb/02/labour-urged-to-focus-on-flag-and-patriotism-to-win-voters-trust-leak-reveals
Labour's leader @Keir_Starmer made a public statement recently sitting in front of the Union flag for which he came under attack by members of his own party.
Starmer has also attempted to position Labour as the "party of the family". https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/staggers/2021/01/what-keir-starmer-s-bid-make-labour-party-family-really-about
And today, he was back borrowing a policy straight out the SDP's manifesto, suggesting the use of Covid recovery bonds: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-politics-56101209
Here is the @SDPhq policy:
So appears my decision to join the @SDPhq was a decent one. However, I much prefer the authenticity of @WilliamClouston who actually believe what he says than @Keir_Starmer who is saying it because it polls well - it seems the UK public agree with me too: https://twitter.com/BritainElects/status/1362376447063699458?s=20
So again if you'd like to find out more about the @SDPhq go to website here: https://sdp.org.uk/ read the policies and New Declaraton and if it makes sense to you the way it did to me consider joining, which you can do here for just £10 per year: https://membermojo.co.uk/sdp
Also well worth checking out the excellent series of interviews conducted by @WilliamClouston on the SDP's YouTube channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCxHouHEwW8AguK_Vi1y_duQ
Take care.
