I did a thread on ?s about the AB Critical Worker Benefit last week and now read through the private sector eligibility in full.Some answers and more problems. Let's focus our outrage on facts #ableg #covid19ab

Only a handful of jobs and industries are eligible. "Critical" workers is defined way more narrowly than "Essential" workers
If you're in the private sector, unless you work in grocery, pharmacy, gas stn, private health, or food/medical supply, you're probably not eligible.

Last week Kenney communicated it as a broad based benefit for anybody working on front lines.
I (and many other employers) have now been getting lots of ?s and have to say "no, unfortunately we're not eligible"
We're delivering the Gov'ts bad news for them. That's fun.

If you ARE eligible, the Government takes no responsibility for your employer not applying for the grant, or not providing you the funds.
There is NO DISPUTE PROCESS.

No longer working for your employer? You're still eligible, and they have to "try" to track you down, but if they can't? Meh.

Mini Rant - folks are concerned about a rumour that car dealerships are applying.
They ARE NOT ELIGIBLE
Even if that wasn't the case, just because the OWNERS donated big $ to the UCP doesn't mean their low/min wage workers shouldn't get a top up.

Lots to criticize:
Huge amount of "essential workers" that aren't eligible
No non-profit
Employer has to apply not individual
No dispute process
300 hrs worked, only wave 2 #covid19ab
