Savarkar had studied 1857 war of independence closely...in fact he called it war of independence while British had been calling it only a small disorganized mutiny... it was Savarkar who painstakingly collected all evidence, facts & wrote the first Indian version of it. 1/n
It gave him view into war strategy, military power & how British were totally dependent on Indian soldiers for victory. He also saw that Muslim population in armed forces was disproportionately high & Hindus were minority. He'd seen enough of thr "patriotism" & "love for H's 2/n
